True. I only played 3.1 for a short time but I remember it being a lot better than 1.0. The Brits were no fun because they didn't have the weapon selection that the Americans did. An entire 4 I believe. Add to that all the other noobized elements of it and there you go.

Plus a BF2 mod would allow shit like planes and tanks while having 64+ people on a server.
