No the kickback on the SAW isn't as big as it is in real life.

I also didn't know you can use a M-16 mag to fire from, too. Too bad mag-fed sucks ass! The thing jammed on me CONSTANTLY. Like every 2 rounds! So belt-fed is much better.

I didn't like using the SAW, as I am an excellent shot. So, when my friend got killed, I took his sniper rifle. : )

I think America's Army is great. The training is real close to the real thing.
