Well its safe to say sony seem to be the masters of dodgy console design, both ps1 and ps2 had isues with their optical drives, and psp had issues with its buton layout, lcd quality and the disc flying out if the console got flexed.

I guess it was just luck that my ps2 hasn't fucked out on me..My dad's SONY dvd player that he has had for 2 years fucked up a few days ago, while his 8 year old pioneer one hasn't yet.
I might get the PS3, if it is $399 or less... |
Than be prepared not to get one.
My first PS2 i got the christmas it got released (2 months after realease day) died the following august. Thank god for the best buy PRP, i just got a new one replaced, but it stopped reading games. My current one which ive had for years now is running like brand new.
