What I reccomend, if you wanna lose weight, first and foremost, do it the healthy way, or you will regret it later on. 2 pounds a week would be best, 4-5 at max. If you are serious about it I would talk to a professional. Take the words "sweets" out of your dailogue. What are you having for desert? Fruit. Also, if possible, try to eat 5-6 small meals a day. Always leave the table feeling a little hungry. That is healthy. I also reccomend drinking water. It has no calories, etc, and is great when you want to lose weight. As for puhsups, the certainly are the old fashioned way. I would say, do as many reps as you can, and have a total of 3 sets or so. Same with crunches. Also, don't walk. If you are going to do a mile, you might as well jog/run it. I would rotate. Monday, crunches and pushups. Tuesday, running. Don't overdo it, your body needs about 48 hours to recover. Also, I find music really helps when excercising, but maybe thats just me.

As for joining a branch of the military. Only do it if this is truly something you want to do. Because, fact is, we live in an unstable world. Don't screw yourself into thinking you are invincible/won't die or whatever. The military is a hard road, and as others said, the pay literally sucks(no offense to anyone), and benefits aren't fabulous either. However, if you are set on this, I wish you the best of luck.
