i had a 5 gallon one. my fish never seemed to die either, had them for about 3 years, tunil I finally got fed up the the smell of algea in my room and having to do a thourough cleaning to it every month. pain int eh ass.

My fish never died by the way, when I finally wanted to get rid of the tank, I flushed the poor bastards down the bowl cry:
