Mass media only reports bad things - If you're constantly tuned into it, you're only hearing and seeing bad things done by so called bad people. People like him have formed a simple opinion and come to the simple conclusion based on what they make of these journalists' stories.
It may not be the intention of the journalists, but he's obviously been watching the news too much which has just infuriated him from constantly seeing reports about muslim extremists. If that's all you're getting from the muslim world, then a SIMPLE person is going to make the conclusion that they're all like that.
I'm pretty sure he doesn't know "they're all like that" from experience. Thus, I advise him he is watching to much news....and yes, there is such a thing as too much news (for those of us that aren't as cynical about what they see)...
