Yes, but this means Sony (who controls the technology) will set a new standard itself. Most DVD players (even cheap ones) just match up the code so any DVD will play. (it scans the disks code, then ,matches it up so it plays problem free) This move on Sony's behalf means no more hassle period. BUT most importantly it makes distribution easier for the industry in general. It was always a poor concept in the start anyways.
