ps- The Amish aren't kept in the dark about everything. At age 16 the Amish are allowed to live an "English" lifestyle. (they still consider us English hehe) This period in their life is called "Rumspringa' which is Pennsylvania dutch for "devils playground" During this time in their life they get to drive cars, use electronics and go to movies. Stuff that we usually do. Rumspringa can last for as long as they want. And by the time when its over they are given 2 choices. Live an "English" lifestyle or join the Amish church. The Amish are baptized later on in their life. When they are old enough to decided whether or not the Amish church is the right decision for them. This is contrary to contemporary Christianity, where the person is baptized shortly after birth. To join the Amish church or to live amongst the "English". Its a difficult choice for any Amish to make.
Also the reason that they stop schooling after 6th grade is because every Amish boy and girl is needed for yard work and time with the family. The Amish value family bonds over schooling.
And why do i know all this? Well i have some secrets about me calmdown:
