Yeah I have two new burmese kittens (to replace the fallen soldier, casper) and they're fine on their own. They're pure-bred though, so they're already "potty-trained" to use the litterbox. You don't have to force them to eat, they'll figure it out on their own.

I'd recommend a burmese to anyone, they're the perfect cat. The best qualities of a dog (loyalty, not shy - approachable) with the best qualities of a cat (not messy, independent enough).
