I think I'm inferring too much with one sentence answers.

The desire and initiative to try something that is viewed as bad and even unhealthy to most people, takes something.

If you try it on your own, and not to be cool. If you're looking for just a good time or a spiritual experience, or if you're really bored with being sober. Many things lead people to drug use, and if you can handle the experience, and you're able to use a drug right, they are perfectly safe.

Life altering, maybe, but in many cases a good way.
