Default Doom 3 system Specs - 03-14-2004, 01:44 AM

This just in from http://www.filefront.com

they had an interview with the makers of Doom 3

We have stumbled across an interview held by PC Hardware with John Carmack. After a rough German translation, what appeared to be the Doom 3 system requirements were revealed.
A video card with at least 128MB RAM and Pixel Shader 1.1 support is required
A 2.5GHz CPU should be enough for the stencil shadows and physics calculations
The testing phase might last till summer or even later this year
DOOM 3 will be released on 4 CDs
Multiplayer will include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Tournament and Last Man Standing
The interview also mentions that the game-testing might go well into the summer; meaning that game will not be out anytime soon, and possibly not before the fall of 2004.

On a side note, this announcement is not what you should deem as being exactly 'official', yet it does shed some light on the possible requirements for the game at least. oOo:

I did not think it would be this good of such requirements did you?

I thought maybe 2 ghz and 64 mb video card

I'll have an overclocked Athlon 64 3200+ with an ATi Radeon 9800 Pro. If
that's not enough, Carmack can suck my [Expletive Deleted] [Censored].

I don't think my 1.1Ghz Sloweron and my PCI Radeon 9100 are going to cut it for D3....

Depends whether it has a ThoroughBred B or a Barton core, if it has a T'Bred B, it will run at 2.25GHz, if it has a Barton core it will run at 2.08GHz.

I don't think there are any Tbred 2800+'s. I'm pretty sure it's only a Barton core. But I could be wrong.

Either way the 2800+ performs for the most part on par with the P4 2.8C in games. So, I'd say that it is good enough for D3 if those specs are correct.

AMD obtains speed via a differant method than Intel. Hense why intel stay swith displaying there clock speed while AMD gives you a series numbers. If an AMD processor is labeled as a 2800+ while its clock speed may only be 1.8ghz it will effectivly process the data at an equivilent speed of a 2.8 ghz.
