Good news for me as I am an avid supporter of all the genetic engineering and stem cells research. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u ... mcell_dc_2

I had this huge discussion about Genetic Engineering in a differenet forum, actually its going on now, Ive just been to lazy to respond as of yet, because he wrote a shit load... Anyway, one of the major flaws he sees with stem cells and GE is that he is of the opinion that it will only be available to the rich and elite, which could escalate tensions between social classes, and possibly end in violence.

I dont believe that. Theres guys with bajillion dollar houses out there, and theres people living in boxes, and I dont see many bums trying to kill those bajillionaires.
I do get what you're saying though. Still, thats no reason to cut back on something that can save your life.

Good, finally money is being spent on saving lives instead of killing lives.

thats exactly what Im telling him, along with the fact(for GE) that the right to decide whether to GE themselves should be extended to the people.

I think people worry about the long term effects of some of the genetic engineering....I mean, it's so new we are yet to see someone live a full healthy life aided by GE (Mainly in foods)....
I'm not saying I agree, but It's a bit of a worry - I know I don't want my kid to be a 5 eyed, 20 fingered chickenhawk as a possible result of the way I have unknowingly indulged myself in GE products.
...But then again, I have no clue about this stuff so, I have no reason to gripe.

I'm down with the stem cells. Seriously, why let all that good stuff go to waste? Maybe someday i'll have full use of my belly button again..
