thats often what happens if they find it inpossible to extend the landing gear properly. oOo: Else how the hell do you expect the plane to hit the ground? Run out of fuel and crash into someones house?
If its the nose wheel they'll often just retract the nose wheel and land on its back 2 wheels, and place the nose down at the final few seconds. Planes are made to a degree for these types of landings.
