going skydiving for the first time!!! -
05-16-2003, 07:31 PM
Tomorrow, I will be at the Winnipeg Skydiving centre for my 5hrs of ground school training at 9am. Then the actual jump.... Has anyone here gone through this? I'm getting more antsy as tomorrow approaches. I rented the first 4 parts of BoB from Rogers vid to see how they trained for the jump.... even Cpt Sobel was squemish on his first jump!

That'd be funny if underware and sandwhiches came out of your chute.

Everyone has, everyone is in the 82nd Airborne or knows someone who is on this Forum.
Expect an answer like..
"YES, MY DAD SEARVED IN THE 82ND AIRBORNE IN THE WAR OF 1812, HE PARACHUTED 69 TIMES AND KILLED 7 CAMBODIANS. HE HAS THE MEDAL OF HONOR."
But honestly though, I've skydived once and hated it, never will do it again. I did it when I went to Austraila for a College trip type thing.

No, I was strangely calm during most of that, I just didn't like most of the falling. It felt like I was extremely depressed, lol, you know the feeling in your stomach.... Oh well, some people call it a rush or a "high," I just call it a waste of time.

Yeah, I jumped with the 152nd Airborne Squad into Eastern Iran. Its not as fun as it is hyped up to be. But I got the Iron Cross for bravery under Freindly Fire. SO ti all evened out, plus I had a great CO, John Milla.

Oh God Ferich, i just cant stop laughing biggrin:
But when my dad was in Vietnam, in trraining, he went parachuting, and he said it was really scary, even though this was in peace time. You do exactly what they said in BoB, and when you jump from the static line, if your chute doesnt open, you have 3-4 seconds to pull your reserve, or else youre too low for it to deploy correctly, which can either severly injure you from breaking your legs, or kill you. But i hope you have fun! Forgive your sins before you go, you never know what will happen freak:
