Default PC: on or off? - 01-31-2006, 08:36 PM

do you always leave your PC on or do you turn it off when not in use?

I will turn it off at night when I go to bed, know that I'm going out for a couple hours and while I'm at work,

But leave it on usually throughout the day if I'm home.

I know there is a age old debate on what is better for your PC. I turn mine off when I'm not around it so something like a fan outtage, etc doesn't occur when I'm not home/sleeping. Plus it helps keep the electric bill down.

weve already done this. And someone posted a link to a study that prooved that keeping hte comp on actually used the same or a little less electricty(if you leave it off for a week this wont work obviously)
Anyways, at home I turn it off, but at school I leave it on.

Mine rarely goes off - Usually only when the g/f stays over, because she can't sleep with the buzzing from the tower....

I've noticed that they can heat the room a little bit too, especially if you have a CRT monitor.
