I think the fact that it has the name alein vs predator will mean that in most places they'll probably break even on the production costs. From what ive read most people feel the movie shoulda taken place on an alien planet with both the aliens and predators fighting for survival. Probably talking big money there in cgi effects and from the look of this movie it would be lucky if it cost $50 million to make.
Ill probably download it once its available so meh.

Would of been alot cooler, if we discovered a Planet and it happened to be the predator's home and it was being invaded by aliens or while we discovered it we accidently brought the aliens with us due to them...being hidden on our ship, fuck I dont know u get what im saying, I think a baby could write a better story then finding a hiddem temple on earth where the predators are fighting aliens and they used us as bait

It would have been better if movie studios would let the directors and writers have creative control instead of hacking the movies apart to make them "P.C.", appeal to mass audiences, and rehash formulas that work for teenagers and no one else. It's an absolute joke, there have been so many dissapointing movies in teh last decade I think I am pretty much done with going to the theaters anymore. I used to go at least once a week, years ago. Now seeing a movie once every couple of months is not so much of a stretch anymore.
We need smart filmakers again, original filmakers that know what we as the audience want to see. We need people like myself who grew up on the great adventure and Sci-Fi movies like Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Aliens, Predator...who know what they liked and disliked about these movies and use that to move foreward in the cinematic experience. But instead, it's all about money and appealing to young audiences, and apparently young audiences don't want to see blood, gore, actual humor (not dick and fart jokes), and most importantly REAL characters. They all seem 2 dimensional, all of them. Name one character you remember that stood out to you in the last decade besides Captain Jack Sparrow or Keyser Soze (some examples). Exactly, it's not about story anymore, it's about special effects and cheesey characters that are mashed together with no story to fit as many showings as possible in one day at your local theater. It's about money.
Point in case, AvP is 87 minutes long, and rated PG-13.. 87 minutes!. With credits, how the hell do you tell a story, develope characters, and keep the fans of both films happy in less then 80 minutes of film? It's an insult, it really is. I may be taking this to heart but in this case I am a big fan of both films and the comics, I grew up with them. And after 10 years of rumors we get this steaming pile of shit.

One of the comments was that the director handed in an "r" rated movie and fox hacked it to shit with the editing. =/

While most movies suck, I still believe a few are good, for my example I'd say Capt. Nathan Algren from The Last Samurai, I thought that was a great movie

Aargorn and Frodo. Pretty much every character from Kill Bill. Samuel L. Jacksons character in Pulp Fiction. All great characters from the last decade.

Ok besides Tarantino, because he has to be the exception here. He has the exact same feeling as myself, in that cgi has taken over for practical effects and story. Unfortunately he can only do one movie every so often, so that still leaves 99% of films that need to pick up the slack.
And as for Fox cutting the movie, yes it is rumored but also I heard that Paul Anderson set out to make a PG-13 movie from teh get-go. Unless we get a much longer directors cut on DVD (this seems to be the excuse every time a movie sucks and it looks like it was hacked to pieces, but it never happens) then I can only assume Paul has done it again.
