Well, I think Sirius has more commercial free channels, but XM has a better signal quality.

I'd go XM.

I have Sirius and I love it. I can't speak to the signal quality of XM because I don't have it. I get a great signal with Sirius. It might depend on the part of the country that you live in. I'm not sure. You might want to check on that.

Since I'm an old coot, I'm sure that you would be interested in different stations than I am. I mostly listen to Classic Vinyl and The Vault (two classic rock stations) I also listen to a Garage Band station (I forget the name) it has some great alternative stuff (they also have a station called Alt Nation). But I also listen to my old foggy stuff - a station called Classic Radio that plays old radio shows from the 30's and 40's like The Lone Ranger, The Shadow, The Green Hornet, Dragnet, etc. ANd the Elvis Channel - Elvis, 24 hours a day. LOL

Sirius also plays all of the SEC football games on Saturdays and the NFL on Sundays. (home AND away radio crews).

You can check out all of the stations that are available at http://www.sirius.com

I just deleted a bunch of crap from this post. Newt, shut your cockhole if you have nothing relevant to say.

Last warning.

Carry on...

If you like Howard Stern he signed a contract with Sirius I think. I don't know if satallite radio is censored by the FCC or not, but if it isn't.. look out.

Sirius. They are getting Howard Stern and I hear more announcements are on the way. I think they have a deal with the NFL, if you are into football.

I travel a lot for business and I've never had reception issues with Sirius radios in Hertz rental cars anywhere in the country (coast to coast).

The only commercials on Sirius are the commercials on the "regular" stations (i.e. CNN, ESPN, etc.). They also come on from time to time on the "non-commercial" stations and plug one of their other channels. (i.e. the Classic Vinyl DJ my come on and talk about the fact that they play NFL games on Sunday).

Sirius is 12.95/mo. I think XM is 9.95 per month. I bought a portable receiver, boom box and a car kit from the Sirius website for $149. It would have been $249 at Radio Shack, Best Buys etc. The reason that I got the portable kind is that the subscription goes with the receiver. If you have one in your car and one in the house, you have to pay twice. So I just bought one that I can use in both places.

**edit** BTW - Stackem - yesterday I listened to NRA News on one of their talk stations. (I think the station is called "Patriot" - it carries conservative talk. They have about three or four conservative talk channels and about the same number of liberal channels.)

[quote="Short Hand":573a1]how do you know this ?[/quote:573a1]

I saw some big comparo thing by Patric Norton on the Screen Savors! Also, I went to walmart and listened..... To me, Sirius seems to have a kind of "compressed" sound compared to XM. Just my opinion though. I suggest you listen to both.

Also, XM seems to be more about Just music, whereas sirius has more talk shows and such.

As for Stern, I don't think He's going to start on sirius untill 2006.

I haven't heard any commercials on Sirius, besides advertising their traffic and so on. Besides, its not quite the same thing. You pay the cable company, not the networks that are on your cable system. The different networks run commercials not the cable company itself, aside from a little self-promotion. You don't see non-HBO advertising on HBO, because you pay separately for that.
