It's just some attempt to addict people. From what I've heard it doesn't work very well at all. You're better off just finding a server that has the shitty unlocks open by default.

Stats doesn't work as yet, theres some hack for it at the minute so people can boost ttheir scores somehow so its disabled till the first patch i think.
