Default 1st day on the job - 12-12-2005, 04:13 PM

Well today was my 1st official Big Boy Job Day and it was Great!

I got fancy security cards to the building and my office. I didnt have a PC yet thoug : ( But got to fool around a bit with the workings. Attended a staff meeting, Free pop and snacks provided by the company at anytime.

Got my official company email and Phone Extension.

I get a paid 1/2 lunch and can take up to an Hour(1/2 paid) if I want.

I should get my PC and phone Tomm and learn a bit more.

I got confused because at first I thought Butters cut his hair but then I realised Nyck shaved his goatee.

I do purchasing for them.

Lets say a Tech comes in and says Hey I need a Router. Id check our inventory, give him the router and then if its the last one order a new one.
or a company may install their last toner and call to order more. Ill then order it so that the next time a tech is out he can deliver it.

I use a site called http://www.techdata.com or http://www.cdw.com and order those products from them.

A tech might email or message us from a job site and say hey company X wants another laptop and docking station.

I then go to Dells website, spec out a computer/laptop. I then check the details portion where it has the individual parts by sku. I then make that webpage a PDF and forward it to our Dell Reps. they will then send us a price quote(usually lower than the webprice) We then charge the web price or a markup a bit of the price and create a price estimate sheet in quickbooks.

I then forward that as a pdf to the company or Tech.

I also return RMA defective products to vendors, etc.

I do this for several 100 different companies that we are contracted with.

No I didnt burn any bridges, I loved everyone I worked with @ staples, it was just a dead end job.

As far as my life being boring, Try working in retail/fast food crap for years.

and yes her desk was a mess...Shit my desk had computer cases and parts and shit ALL over it. so what you saw was a huge improvement. she has been doing all the purchasing and inventory along with marketing, so she has been overwhelmed and I swooped in to the rescue.
