I'm 21 and a sound technician at a music club in downtown Philadelphia.

My point of view is, nothing a Police Officer does justifies being an egotistical maniac.

Sure, I have met a few good/nice Cops in my day.

But the majority have been mean and unintelligent. Does this mean I'm an anarchist that hates the United States Government and all Law Enforcement Agencies? Absolutely not. Does this mean that I find most Cops I meet to be assholes, so I tend to stay away from them? Yes.

Police brutality.

I kinda feel mixed on this one. But remmeber when a couple go bad iin the crowd you have to get them all. If you could get the ones responsible for throwing rocks and crap then i could agree but since you cant go and pic k out the bad apples individually then your kind of limited.

Ferich,

Thank you for being forthright. I am so glad you are not a child. lol

Allow me to explain myself:

Im married and have 2 children , ages 2 and 4. That alone justifies my appriciation of secrurity. My wife is Airforce , so naturally we live on base. Let me tell you I am very glad those guys are at the gates.

I have never been arrested or charged with a crime. I am Law biding. And hence have never encountered an angry police officer.

Now that you understand me , let me get to the bulk of your question:

According to the FBI database these crimes were commited in 2002:
1,426,325 Violent Crimes or about 3,907 a day
16,204 Murders or about 44 a day
420,637 Armed Robberys or about 1,152 a day
95,136 Forced Rapes or about 260 a day

These are crimes that the guilty party would run , evade , or shoot back at officers. Being from Philidelphia , Im sure you will agree with me about that.

Now "put there life on the line": You and I are not responsible to catch these criminals , the police are.

Between Jan.1st and July 1st of this year 77 police officers lost there lives persueing these criminals.

There will always be people who are jerks , regardless of profession. We must rise above steriotyping and judge only on an individuals actions. These men and women have a hard job to do , and they diserve our respect for doing it.

This is the basis for my oppion towards law enforcement.

Reflect that the chief sorce of all evils to man , and of baseness and cowardice , is not death , but the fear of death. - Epictetus about 45 AD

Tripper,

1st. Your lack of respect and general bias attitude remarks well on your personallity and your country. It is quite obvious you are the amonst the proud bread of 11 year olds that occupy some posts.

2nd. Your remarks towards me are inconsiquential. I hold nothing against you for them , because I am familiar with your maturity level.

3rd. The insults made towards my familly are just wrong. It would do you well to grow up a little and learn respect. I believe you will find this sort of behavior is outright disturbing. Primarilly because she is a woman , but also a US Solgiar.

4th. Your continued disrespect for women and the regarding them as whores and objects leads me to the final conclusion............You're Gay.

Thank You Ferich,

I can understand yours as well , my cousin was arrested for Grand Theft.
He recieved a lesser sentence because his junkie buddy was a cop in the same county where he was arrested , and spoke on his behalf at his trial.

In return for the favor my cousin gave him a half-ounce of weed.

That stick man reminds me of a lecture I was in a couple weeks ago for mine awareness in the army. We had a Warrant from 33 Field Engineers come in and he was drawing stick men on the blackboard and he drew them all with penises. I think it was something he did automatically because he drew a few of them and they all came out that way. Needless to say it was quite halarious, especially when Sergents and Coporals start laughing. The Warrant didn't find it funny though. And thats the end of my story.

cops over here are assholes. OC, LA and all over CA, everyone knows that, but thats not an excuse for breaking windows and throwing rocks. protesting is fine with me, but when you get police confronting an angry mob, you should be smart enough to know that you better get your ass out of there. cops dont deserve respect unless they respect the people theyre policing. there is a difference between showing respect and showing disrespect. i wouldnt show disrespect, but im not going to respect someone for the sake of doing so. as for the canadian police using tear gas, i dont see how that was excessive force. rocks hurt, and a quick way to disperse a crowd is to use nonlethal gas, and pepper them with rubber bullets. if you attack homes, police, businesses and the city in a protest, you are responsible if you get your head cracked by a baton.
