Thoughts on the RNC -
09-03-2004, 07:53 PM
Heh.. Pataki is speaking now. I don't really agree with the constant 9/11 references, but I do sort of understand the point they're trying to make.
Funniest thing so far is Pataki saying, "[John Kerry] is a man who has to Google his own name to find out where he stands." And then the crowd started chanting, "Flip flop. Flip flop."
Anyway, your thoughts?

I could point out a few different things, but then this would turn into a partisan policy debate.
I just want to see what people thought about the RNC, not have some little bitches (read: Pyro) come in and turn it into a Canada vs. America thread.

pataki couldnt pronounce terror so it bugged me, other than that the video and the speech for W look good so far.
im pretty impressed by the choices they've made to do the big speeches even tho there have been serious moments of cheese "don't be economic girlie men" comes to mind

Sweet Lord, Bush just spoke in Spanish.
On a side note, his "job improvement zones" sound like a theory I've heard before.. sort of like Chinese spheres of influence. I've got to look back at some things, but as I recall the precendent is that it is extraordinarily efficient in equalizing trade defecits. In fact, spheres of influence in China are what have created a multi-billion dollar trade defecit in Chinese favor since Clinton signed the agreement.
Also, now that he's fully revealed his wage reforms, I'm liking them. I was worried before, but it seems like he may be modeling the reforms after German policies. Germans, like many other European countries, get MUCH more paid time off than we. In fact, they are guaranteed 30 days of paid vacation each year. The average vacation time taken in a year by a German worker is 6 weeks. In Sweden, it's 8. It'd be pretty cool to move in that direction.

kthx.. no debates and flaming.
Liberal mouth-flapping can have its own thread. If you want to comment on what was said at the convention, please feel free to exercise your constitutional right, but debate the issues, not the history of the speakers.

Holy shit.. hold on to your hard hats, fellas.
G.W. just busted it out, "[Freedom] is The Almighty God's gift to every man, woman and child on this Earth!"
We'll hear about this for the next month. Being a Christian, I of course don't have a problem with it.
