Doom 3 was good for what it was. Its not my kind of shooter though. I prefer open spaces and walking down coridor after coridor just gets old pretty fast. There were a few nice points in the game, but over all a bit out dated gameplay wise.
HL2 on the other hand is exceptional for what it is. The story can be a bit complex at times, trying to figure out WTF is going on and why. It accomplishes everything valve set out to do, it set a new standard with ass loads of new features and stunning graphics. The only reason it beats doom3 is its level design, and gameplay.
I doubt the expansion will offer enough good stuff to tollerate another go at doom3. Though i do love the double shotty.

I thought Far Cry was the most overrated underrated game. No normal people have heard of it, but enthusiasts think it is superb. But it really isn't that great. Lush enviroments was at it had going for it. Still has a horrible story, bad characters, weak weapons, shitty monsters, more-often-then-not shitty AI.... ect.
The Doom 3 expansion looks pretty cool. It's not as dark as the original which is a plus for a lot of people. I never had a problem with the dark until the one time I tried to play in the day. annoy:

Yeah farcry was a pos, i think most websites just lost objectivity on their reviews because they were too busy drooling over the graphics. What killed it for me was the shitty ai dialogue "im gonna shoot you in the head, im gonna lay the smackdown on you" oOo: . Just ruined any immersion the game had.
I still havn't played through doom 3 totally, usually play the multiplayer quite a bit, still fun even though its deathmatch. With the expansion bringing in more open multi maps it should be fun. happy:
