I've been carrying a firearm since '91 and recently in the past few years, a knife. I don't want to be one of those sorry asses who places their life in some guys hands who decides to rob the eatery you're in. At least this way, i have the upper hand since i'm armed and the thug doesn't know it. The news is filled with victims of violence....i don't plan on being one of them. And just so everyone here understands, it's my 2nd Amendment right to bear arms an an American citizen.

do you roll with the 50 cent licensed flak jacket to. I'm not gonna guess on what areas you guys live in, etc I just know that the areas I go to dont need an ammo belt.

Nyck, most severe violent crimes against mulitple people occur in "good areas" just as you stated. Some skell isn't gonna rob the local kentucky fried chicken knowing there may be armed people inside. He'll just go to your town and victimize you knowing you feel safe in your community thereby not arming yourself. I live in a really nice area but there is a rash of home invasions and conveinence store robberies close by in other nice areas. The guys doing all this don't live in the areas they're hitting. Nice communities make easy targets. Don't walk the earth with blinders on.

but why? so you can be the hero? so you can possibly start a shootout risking others lives because you thought you should do the right thing simply because you're armed? it doesn't make sense to me. maybe in stackem's case but that's all, and even then i don't really approve. if anything i only see it as a safety blanket, it just makes you feel safe and powerful but when it comes time to use it it's just going to escalade things and people will get hurt. if you really want to do your part, go to police academy or something.

Anti, i can respect your feelings but before you blast me, think 1st. You really don't know me or my life experiences. You have no idea if i have a military background or a law enforcement background. As i'm sure you are aware, i was awoken at 2:30am this past fall by 3 kids vandalizing my car. Did i shoot them? No, just detained them for the responding cops.
And since you don't know me, let me say i'd never try to be a "hero" and/or risk others. Having a gun or knife evens the teams for me. If i'm reduced to no other choice, i'm either cutting or shooting my way out, it's that simple. If some guys wanna rob a place i'm in and it's just that, a robbery, then i'll be a good witness. I'm not going to confront them. And, as a matter of fact, i have a "throw wallet" for just that. (if you don't know what a throw wallet is, just ask a cop, he'll tell you) They'll get my throw wallet with some money in it but thats it. If they get a lil' buck nutty and start to shoot up the place, then i'm forced to do whatever it takes to get out alive.
Say what you will but never judge someone you don't know.....and you don't know me.

that's a cool site.
I live in a really nice neighborhood, http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo. ... ndex=25438 But I don't think the neighborhood you live in can make the difference. I know suburbs aren't gonna be nearly as dangerous as cities and what not, but what I'm saying is, if you live in a nice neighborhood that is close to a city or a bad neighborhood, crime can still affect you either when you commute their for work, entertainment, etc, or if the crime comes to you like arkan said, because "good communities" are good targets. I think you're in more danger in some areas, but I think there is always danger of crimes being committed anywhere, you're never gonna be able to say you are absolutely safe to the point where you know you'll never need protection.

by the two posts you made saying "you cant stop a robbery with your ipod" and now the 2nd one above mine it just seemed like you had this mentality of using your gun to become the hero. i can understand if you're caught in a position where you must resort to using your weapon, but any other cases would just be inane to me. i may be wrong to have assumed but your comments in the beggining lead me down that path so you can stop playing that you dont know me card.

ok anti, perhaps you're right about my comments...sorry for the confusion. All i know is, i've been armed with either a knife or firearm since '91 and never had to use either. I've been in a few situations but none warranted the use of either weapon. Me carrying a knife and/or gun is like putting on a pair of sneakers...it's natural for me. I just want to have an opportunity to live should something bad go down, and thats it. Some people carry a cell phone in case their car breaks down...not very likely in a brand new car but possible. I feel the same way about getting caught up in a bad situation....not likely but possible.
"Anytime you step outside your front door, you're stepping in danger"
(can be anything from a car wreck, robbery, assault, dog bite...etc) just don't be blind to it.

You should sell up and use that $1 million to buy crack cocaine and hookers.
