Another good tip is remember your head must remain still through the entire swing. If you lower your head as you start your down swing you will impact the ground behind the ball. Same rule applys if you pull your head up as you swing. This is also called pulling off the shot.

As a mental picture imagine your head in a vice as you swing. Have someone watch you take some practice swings to determine how much if any your head moves.

Then probably the most important rule in golf. Nerver over swing the club. Power does not = distance. How you make contact the ball = distance. If you doubt that watch the LPGA and see how some little gal just smokes the ball.
