Allow me to tell a story of cultural insensitivity.

OK I was in Cambodia. As some of you may know, in 1975 the communist Khmer Rouge took Phnom Penh and evacuated the entire capital's 2 million residents.

What was to follow was the systematic murder of many Cambodians.

I was going to the Killing Fields for the day and it was a 45 minute motorbike ride to get there. I had past a bus on the way but I paid no real attention to them.

I went to the killing fields and saw and realised the horror of this place. It was very moving.

As I was leaving, the bus I past unloaded American tourists. Now they seemed OK for the most part but some insensitive prick was wearing a t-shirt that had the Vietnamese yellow star on it. For those of you who don't know, Cambodians and Vietnamese despise each other. And this cunt (there really is no better word) was wearing this shirt to the killing fields. This is like wearing the swastika to a Holocaust memorial.
I felt like decking the guy. He looked to be in his early twenties.

I hope he's in the minority. I've been on scuba trips and met very polite, nice Americans too.
