Who cares? The book (of WOTW) was an excellent read and Americans ruined it with the movie. It was originally based in Leatherhed (next door to my home town, Epsom) but of course whenever aliens attack the Earth it's America that it happens.
It's an average film but it is old. What do you expect?
The actual story was unprecidented and the radio show went down in history for the public hysteria that ensued.
I'd say 90% of movies that were created then are toss.
