Freddy is more pure evil than Jason, since Jason's malice was brought about by circumstance (his drowning and his Mom's decapitation)...he wasn't ALWAYS evil. Fred was always evil...a murderer and child molestor. Having said that, Jason scared me more as a kid because I was in the Scouts and did a lot of camping. Jason brought that innate fear of a lurker in the woods...creepy.
