I can't see the point of evangelizing a single weapon. Rockets piss me off because they're so unskilled, which is why we don't allow them on our server.

A lot of good points made - especially "if the games modded, adjust to it." That's part of what makes a good player great - you have to adjust. Different levels need different tactics, and I even switch weapons depending on who is playing and what weapons they are using.

I like the shotgun in Stalingrad, SMG in Destroyed Village ( used to snipe but I get more kills faster ), BAR on Remagen, KAR98 on Destroyed Village, STG on French Village.

At the end of the day, whoever said it earlier was entirely correct - the point of the game is to kill people, and pick whatever works for you. To me ( and the rest of the clan ) the enjoyment comes in winning, whatever it takes ( bar cheating ). I appreciate some people just enjoy playing the game for its own sake, which is cool for them, but sadly I'm a hyper competitive nut who hates losing to anyone ever.

I think one part of hating shotguns comes down to ping time. The tenth of a second advantage from being on the LAN can be all you need - you've dropped some poor sod before the game registers their shot - I've been on the receiving end of that, and I know how frustrating it can be.
