Someone in the comments section pointed out a VERY valid argument: folks touting the "price point" of the machine CONSISTENTLY point to the most EXPENSIVE model of the PS3 and compare it to the CHEAPEST model of the XBOX360. They also pointed out that once you add on everything a person would need to add on to get the SAME functionality out of the XBOX360 that the PS3 is offering (wireless controllers, online functionality, wireless router if you dont already have it) - youre going to be spending nearly the same amount of money.

At this point, the people who are saying the wont spend 499 on the PS3 (100 dollars more than the BASE XBOX360) are just rabid fanboys. . .

I agree in that aspect, but they come as options. Its sort of like a car you could get auto or manual, power windows or manual etc. its forced right upon you though. But the point that piece to piece comparison to make similar systems is a very valid point
