[quote:eebb3]The New Zealand Defence Force, however small is well trained and capable. They still have an Airforce, although with no Fighter Wing, they basically use the aircraft for transport purposes. It's Navy is small, not too sure about it's capabilities, but the NZ Army are ver professional and able to hold their own. NZ's Special Forces consists of only (as far as I know) NZSASR...New Zealand Special Air Service Regiment, they cross train with the Aussie SASR and with the Yanks and British SAS.

r3mix really was out of place with his comment. NZ has some very well trained soldiers, and I'm glad to have them as Allies and close neighbours. Blame the shitty New Zealand Government for it's fucked choices for the direction of it's Armed Forces, not the men and women who make up the NZ Defence Force.[/quote:eebb3]

Amen, mate. cool:

And if you remember, the 28th Maori Battalion of WW2....One of the most feared Battalions by the axis. That's native New Zealanders for ya.

"With a cheery farewell grin they had marched off armed to the teeth, festooned with Spandaus, Schmeissers, Brens, tommy-guns, carbines and the odd rifle. I had never before seen such a body of men so completely armed with automatic weapons. The Maori seemed to have a natural aptitude for automatics. Most of them could play a tune on a tommy gun, and being rugged specimens physically, the extra weight did not greatly distress them. They were a piratical looking crew, swathed in greatcoats and balaclavas topped by battered tin hats, creaking in their harness with necklaces of Spandau belts and bandoliers slung about them. They had gone down to the road and swung into a staggered formation with an ominous clicking of cocking handles and a bristle of gun barrels."
