The safest way to overclock is to make sure your PC has good air circulation, and is always cool. If you plan to overclock, you should first get a temperure readout of the inside of your PC, then try to lower that temp. with more fans, or better air circulation. IMO, leaving the case open with a small home-room fan always works.

If you are a real enthuseist, you can upgrade your cooling to water. Using a water-cooling system can benefit your PC in many ways: Overclocking, longer lasting hardware, etc. They can run from $100 to $300. If you are super-rich, go for a freon-cooling system. It uses the substance found in "canned-air". They run for about 2 grand just for the system, no PC parts. oOo:
