OK this has got to be the most supreme piece of crap ever to come out of someone's mouth. Americans claim they helped out Europe....but they showed up late.

Also the French soldiers were the only regualrs who could stand up to the Germans and British soldiers in the American Revolution. The Colonial Regualrs just didn't have the training or experience.

This is the problem. I very much doubt a single American cares at all what the World thinks of them.

I think it's sad that this is happening. My opinion of Americans in general is no different, I do have lots of American friends and I'm not blinded by propaganda and clichés into hating an entire nation.

Otherwise I'd hate "the French", too.

The French helping us late in the Revolutionary war and the US joining late in helping the Allies in WWII are different. I garauntee that we helped contribute at least 3 times as much to defeating the Axis than the French contributed to us defeating the British.[/i]

Im sick of people saying we entered ''late.'' LATE? We fought for almost FOUR YEARS! Truman was only trying to side with his people, because they did not want to go to war. And you know what? Take that scenario and put it in today. Let's say Bush doesnt go to war because his people, or the vast majority, dont want war. Yet in 2005 when another September 11 comes and Iraq is responsible for giving these weapons to the terrorists, will people blame Bush for going in ''late''??

You do realize that if anwar was ok'ed for drilling today, it would be almost twenty years before the first drop of oil came out of there? I say save teh anwar for later and keep using venuzuelan and opec oil. Why deplete our supplies and put ourselves in a 100% dependent situation. We currently produce about half of our on oil. Not to mention that many of the american oil companies drilling in alaska have been shipping their oil to asia. The oil companyies would have oil, not necessarily me and you.

Yes we started late, but we stayed late too. We finished up in the pacific, with little or no european help. We kept W Berlin open with our airlifts. We pumped billions of dollars into war torn europe. The french provided teh victory wine. They were grateful and fully expressed it then. Its now almost 60 years later. We need to quit holding it over their heads, but this showing up late garbage is silly. The french are free to make what ever choices they want. Thats what it is about, freedom. But I am also free to think that they are putting their financial ambitions above the good of the rest of the world.

I'm not an advocate of saying "We did this for you, you owe us this" because you then go down the forever spiralling route leading to ripostes like "Yeh, but think back 100 years when we did this for you, if that didn't happen then...".
