Well, it's more like a 2-2.5 hr drive. Moving anywhere in between is pretty much impossible for anyone living on a $14/hr wage. Unless he wants to go inland, which quickly becomes a hell-hole.

If I were you, I'd move. And make the occasional commute to go see her. I wouldn't break it off totally. It's not like your moving across the continent. It is possible to work things out in this situation. Just don't expect her to rip up her own roots for your sake. That's childish and selfish. But she shouldn't expect you to give up your career advancement for her sake. Just take some time with it. See each other when you guys can, discuss everything about this change as much as possible, and be completely honest with each other. Good luck.
