[quote="Cpt. Zapotoski":3019d]Yes, I think Arnold is more then capable to be the President of the US. However, I don't feel it's right for another man/woman to lead the country who wasn't even born here.
I have ancestors that were traced back in time who were believed to have come over on the Mayflower, and I have ancestors who came over from Poland in the early 1900s. The point of saying this is that I'm not against foriegners or immigrants who came over from other countries. I just feel that the President should of been born here in the US.[/quote:3019d]
Yes, that's very understandable. The problem was cause by the comments made by someone else towards immigrants/forerigners.
It would be a good change. A Fresh mind who the people agree with voted in instead of a brainwashed american born.
I guess you have all the answers to American politics, being that you have spent so much time in America and have so much vast experince with our political system. All Americans are not brainwashed so keep your bullshit opinion where it might matter( in a Canadian political thread) annoy:
Because of national security reasons. If you are going to have the HIGHEST position in the government and be commander in chief of our armed forces then I think you should be born here.[/quote:072aa]
How, exactly, and if I may ask, is being born in the United States going to
guarantee any form of increased security and the allowance of trust in who
you chose to lead the country in comparison with someone of known status
from abroad ? You fail to realize that inside corruption from outside source
is a reality and that your "US born leader" can be as much of a puppet to a
group.

Listen kiddies, you are forgetting the most important factor here. If a man/woman is to become president, no matter what kind of background they come from, they have to be VOTED into office. This means they will face the scrutiny of the media, the public, and fellow politicians. Don't you think that everything that could possibly ruin Arnold's hope for the Governor’s race was dug up by the media? And guess what? the worst thing people could say was that he smoked pot once, and he was misquoted in saying he was a "Nazi Sympathizer".
Come on people, the reason he was elected as Governor is because we are smarter then that, we let the media dig up the dirt, and then we ourselves make the decision of whether or not he is the right choice. It's called a democracy, and this system usually works. I mean, sure we always have negative things to say about our current president, but would have we been better off with Al Gore as president during 911? I think not.
What you are saying is that electing a foreign born president could put our National Security at risk, which in effect really has no bearing on this conversation because all you have to do is consider someone who would have been born in the United States and moved to Iran or some other Middle Eastern country. They could just as easily be influenced by their heritage in the Middle East (assuming they have heritage there) and be a presidential candidate just because they were born here in the United States.
The truth is, as long as a candidate is a good person, who has good intentions and is a competent leader, it shouldn't matter where he was born. And if you think it does, well then the elections will prove or disprove your belief. Because the majority, not you, make the decisions.
