Capt. Bunny, you have to remember that in biblical times, christianity was competing as a religion (like ABC, CBS and NBC here in the states compete) for followers... As they were ruled by Rome for much of the time, their direct competition was the polytheistic beliefs of the Roman gods, and if you recall, Jupiter/Zeus and the other gods would regularly impregnate common women and their offspring would be part god. There are many demi-gods in Roman mythology that have this claim to fame. It wasn't rape, it was keeping up with the Joneses, in this case, the Romans, nothing more. My god is better than your gods, because SEE! he can do this, and he did that, and thus and thus. bigger and better each and every time.

having said that, I would still propose that there is an omnipotent being of sorts, but that it is neither good nor evil but more neutral in its stance and that it obeys the laws of science (both known and unknown to us) that we do... of course, i know about as much as the christians do, and have as much proof.
