AS someone who's just getting into it, i would say that it was a little overrated. I was expecting a much better game from what people told me. However, i bought it and its still definitely one of the best FPS i've played, mostly because the engine is good at working indoor and outdoor environments. It's not lightyears ahead of games like Wolfenstein and Day of Defeat on the Half Life engine, but its impressive. Especially since there is already an add-on in the works. My favourite part is the Omaha beach D-day run and its the reason i bought the game. I play that level averagely 3 times a week.

The only criticism i have is little annoying things about the game make it feel too scripted. Like not being able to choose a weapons loadout because i presonally prefer the M1 to any SMG, it makes the game seem so much more frantic.
or having such seemingly open levels that really, seem to suffer from the same problems as wolfenstien with regards to not having any option as to where to go next (particularly obvious in sniper alley level)

Personally i feel they should have stuck away from the lone gun feel of wolfenstien and made it feel like there was constantly a war around you escalating as u approached D-Day and Berlin by having objectives that are optional, maybe a time limit to levels, and heck, maybe a command and conquer style map as to the progress of the war, (the intro kinda made me hope that was going to happen),

Anyway, there are all things that maybe they will consider for part 2.

it's still a very enjoyable game.....buy it
