3Mbit connections don't mean 300KBytes per second LOL...

3Mb / 8 bits = .375 which basically means a maximum download speed of
375KBps.

can pull 3mbps+ through newsgroups, around 1mbps on most downloads

I think there is actually a conversion from the connection speed to actual download speed.. Something like 1/10 or something so if you have a 3mbps connection you should have around 300mps download speed.. Ill try and find a link to where I saw this..
