[quote:7e333] An example of assault weapon legislation is the Federal 1994 Crime Bill. The bill in part outlaws new civilian manufacture of certain semi-automatic assault weapons. It also prohibits new civilian manufacture of "large capacity ammunition feeding devices" declared certain weapons as assault weapons, and states a semi-automatic rifle is an assault weapon if it can accept a detachable magazine and has two or more of the following:

A folding or telescoping stock
A pistol grip
A bayonet mount
A flash suppressor, or threads to attach one
A grenade launcher.
(For the Crime Bill's definition of assault shotguns and pistols, a list of assault weapons, and further legal issues see Crime Bill FAQ.)[/quote:7e333]

Heh, My SKS can have a detachable magazine, folding stock, and has a bayonet mount(Acctually, it has a folding, non detachable bayonet, Uber cool), a flash suppressor, and a grenade launcher (of sorts, it has threads on the end to hold a special grenade, then there is a flip up grenade sight, and you would fire special bullets to launch the grenade).

[quote:7e333]Plus there is much more.

You can hunt with some, but few, assault rifles. [AR-15 = .223 which you can hunt prarie dog] Which gives citizens a purpose to own them.

Also, if there is no need for a civilian to own a assault rifle, then there is no need for a civilian to own a glock, beretta ect. You can do just as much if not more with an assault rifle than a pistol.[/quote:7e333]

First off, there is no point to Prarie dog hunting. If it isn't endangering you or your property, and you are not going to eat it, there is no need to kill an animal.

Also, both the SKS and the AK's are fairly good for hunting animals like say, the wild hog. There are a lot of wild hogs around my part of texas. They are vicious and can easily kill you if you aren't careful. Also, they can be made into good sausage. biggrin:

Again, let me say that there is no need to just kill an animal for no reason. However, there are legitimate uses of assault rifles. There may not be as many for assault rifles as there are for say, shotguns, but there are some, and it is assinine to not accept that.
