no he modded it, he saudered (sp?) the wires and whatever else a mod set comes with to the set. I had to buy two PS2 systems, because the first set i had was an older set. He opened it up and said that he couldnt mod it because it was manufactured with other parts. There seemed to be a metal plate in the way of where the chipset was supposed to be. So i went to wal mart and bought another PS2 that belonged to the SPCH39001 series. I switched the sets (it still worked) and returned the older PS2 to walmart. I dont have the network or hard drive set up to my PS2, but my friend has that set up with his Xbox and replayTV. Sounds like the best thing to do. But my mod works great.
