If the movie were to disregard this, then the whole setting up of the other characters instances with their traps wouldn't make sense.

Another reason Adam does not die is because the guy doesn't kill people. He gets others to kill them for him. Adam is now alone and chained up. This would be murder because Adam will die of starvation and dehydration. Thus Adam cannot die.

Edit: plus didnt he try to kill the guy once he got up at the end, so i dont think hes gonna help adam get those keys out
