162 + 638 + 553 + 106 + 154 = 1,613

What happened to the other 8,727?

Why clog up the courts with faulty cases, and how many of these arrests are for mickey mouse offences?

[quote:f6c83]
Taylor said there have been nationwide fugitive roundups before, "but this just turned out to the largest and most significant in terms of numbers." He said Congress in 2002 mandated that the Marshal Service be involved in fugitive hunts and investigations.

"This gave us an opportunity to sort of prove ourselves," he said. He said marshals worked "long, hard hours" on the intense roundup, and he was surprised at the number of arrests.[/quote:f6c83]

I seriously wouldn't doubt that these arrests were a ploy for whatever political reason. Sounds good on the surface, but we don't see what goes on behind the scenes.[/quote:f6c83]

You're usually pretty fair and balanced 90, but in this case your opinion is extremely unsubstantiated. While the arrest campaign obviously is politically driven, that doesn't mean a bunch of U.S. cops have become the KGB and are arresting innocent people.
