[quote:ea7b4]WASHINGTON — The United States has found 500 chemical weapons in Iraq since 2003, and more weapons of mass destruction are likely to be uncovered, two Republican lawmakers said Wednesday.[/quote:ea7b4]

Interesting...we'll see what comes up in the next few days.

They aren't WMDs. They are depleted weapons from the Iran-Iraq war that people said would be found. These are not the weapons that were supposed to justify the 2,500 dead soldiers.

PS: Rick Santorum is a lying scumbag.

Mustard and Sarin gases are weapons of mass destruction. Nuclear bombs aren't the only thing that are categorized as WMD's. He isn't lying about that.

Saddam lied his ass off when he said his country was free of those weapons. Since they've been around since 1991 wtf was the UN doing then? I'm sure they didn't say, "oh it's just huge amounts of mustard gas. no biggie." The weapons had to have been shuffled around and kept away from any inspectors. Seriously, it's not that hard to do when the inspectors have a schedule of a place and a time of where the next inspection will take place. "C'mon boys, we've only got 3 hours till those UN inspectors get here. Haul that gas outta here!"

When I can I'll pust the transcript.

Edit: The weapons were around before 1991, and there is no evidence of him ever trying to make new chemical weapons after the gulf war, or even trying to start a nuclear program.

Also these weapons were so old and depleted they had no viable military use at all.

[quote:40556]But defense officials said Thursday that the weapons were not considered likely to be dangerous because of their age, which they determined to be pre-1991.

Pentagon officials told NBC News that the munitions are the same kind of ordnance the U.S. military has been gathering in Iraq for the past several years, and "not the WMD we were looking for when we went in this time."

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the issue.

"We were able to determine that [the missile] is, in fact, degraded and ... is consistent with what we would expect from finding a munition that was dated back to pre-Gulf War," an intelligence official told NBC. "However, even in the degraded state, our assessment is that they could pose an up-to-lethal hazard if used in attacks against coalition forces." [/quote:40556]

I thought we found evidence that Saddam was in the early stages of pursuing nuclear technology?
