I think we need them. There are times when I've been saved from a situation where I'm outnumbered by my opponents and have been saved by a rocket weilding team mate. Also there is nothing more fun than to meet a rocket guy face to face and by some slim chance his rocket leaves you with 10% life. As far as shotguns go for the most part they need to be within close range. If you fear them so much just stay out of buildings. It's also fun to kill them when they're reloading. Every weapon has it's pros and cons. I'd never shoot a shotgun or rocket but if you want to carry one that's fine with me.
