I have Geforce4 4600 512 megs of ram, and a 1.4 amd.
ZERO lag.
It's NOT the game despite what your peers would like to tell you.

It's because not alot of servers are updated yet, that's all. Can anyone confirm that Desert Combat works with this patch?

He's right. As I've explained numerous times, Service Pack 1 for WinXP killed this game. Microsoft finally released a hotfix for SP1 to fix this error, but it looks like it's done its damage already. Anyways, it does work well on my machine:
P4 2ghrz
512MB PC-800 RDRAM
GeForce Ti4600
WinXP Pro, SP1

Crap. Well some cool things about this patch are:
Enhanced netcode & optimization, for lower lag and faster frames.
Sniper & Enginners rifle reloads faster
New weapon sounds
new server commands, like forgive/punish a TKer
tri-linear filtering can now be disabled (for people with slower machines, this is good news)
Fixed memory leaks.

Well, I just tested the patch out, and man Im impressed. Few things that still bother me:
1) Repairs on docks/hangars are still too high, as tanks can still camp @ them.
2) Some of the sounds are good (Rifle, BAR), but others (MG-42, 50-Cal) should of stayed the same.
3) Now there's a damn sound glitch, you will randomally hear a sound echo/repeat, or a scratch-like sound will play during the game!
Otherwise, the game is about 25% faster for me, even on an EA server with 120 ping! I say this patch was a good improvment, but the above three should be fixed.

Dammit, Desert Combat works like crap with this patch . .back to the drawing board for them.
From what Im reading you have to use hardware acceleration for your sound card, and whatever khz it is at (default is 11 or 22) double it.

I see, this new patch gave me lag because it reset by refresh rate! Had to go back n fix. Ok now the improvement is very clear.
