The M16's are the same way there is about 10 inches of barrel in the hand guards and only 6 inches of the barrel is totally exposed.

The A4's new features listed here.

There are two settings on the C7/C8.

Repetition - One shot
Automatic - Hold the trigger as long as you want and it'll go till you run out of ammo.

However the only situation I can think of in which I would use Full Auto would be when being ambushed and therefore required to do an "Aussie Peel back" which is basically you get into a line and the front man unloads an entire magazine, then runs to the back where the second man in line unloads another magazine etc. You do this to create suppressing fire in the hope that you can somehow back out of the ambush.

This and other situations are the only time I would ever consider using full auto from what I can think of right now. It's not like in the movies. Full Auto is just a waste of rounds. You won't hit anything.

OMG you guys back out of ambushes? LOL we were taught you have a higher probablility of charging and firing in the general direction the shots are coming from and try and over run them fast. rock:

Perhaps I shouldn't have used the word "ambush" because truthfully I haven't been trained realistically for the situation.

I just thought of what the Aussie Peel back is usually used for. It still might be used in ambushes, but i'm not sure. What I am sure of is it's for when a recce runs into resistance. Obviously recce isn't supposed to run into the enemy, their supposed to be not seen, and not engage, however if a recce of say 3 runs into a platoon from one side for instance, an Aussie Peel Back would be the best bet.

We were taught if your ever ambushed the worst possible thing is to dive for cover, you need to just try and overwhelm them, but if they are about 50 or so more yards out than you could be fucked lol.
