Some of these numbers are either distorted or incorrect altogether.

First of all, about the static IP - yes it is static, but most cable providers give you a static IP as well.

3-4mb speeds on DSL? Um.. you'd pretty much have to live next door to the backbone, or pay a shit-ton of money to get a main line pulled into your house.

And 3.5mb on cable? Residential fiberoptics cap out at 2.8mb (or something like that) and most cable providers won't let your speeds get in excess of 2.0-2.2. In order to get 3.5mb download on a cable line, you'd need a commercial-grade fiberoptic hook-up.

Unless the world changed while I was in Florida this weekend.

I have DSL through Direcway, and it totally sucks....When I first got it I was excited since Id be able to game, even if I was out in the middle of no where. Well, I joined a server and I got 700-999 ping, I thought oh well, its in the uk. I joined several servers after that and my ping was still 999. So I called Drecway up and they said it was made for gaming...I was pissed. Anyways, in one month I am moving and getting cable.

We live in Iowa and get cable from a very local service. Connection speeds can get up to 3.5 mbps pretty regularly. I can pull downloads from newsgroups at about 3 mbps too. Sweet stuff.
