Yeah, I use that kind of adapter too...just a pain in the ass to haul the computer out of the desk to plug the computer into the sound card.

I don't record anything these days anyway. Meh.

would the sound quality in that case be the same as if done with USB?...

Thats awesome. I really wish they had a tuner that would connect to your comp, though, and when you play a string, it'll tell you whether to tighten or loseen it. My guitar sounds like crap..I dont know how to tune it.

lol..I "know" how to tune one. I plan to buy an eletric tuner pretty soon, so no matter.
