So when I saw the lights Im like wtffff. I guess my back tailight was out (which I had no clue) and the car was unregistered (parents drive it). Plus, I was driving after 9 which Im technically not allowed to do since Im 17. It was pretty lame, the cop giving me 3 tickets..thank god my license wasnt taken away though, Id flip shit on my rents. Well, thank you for listening <3

Your parents don't seem like the responsible type. Giving you a shit box to drive (unregistered and broken tail light) plus your mom laughing? I would've slapped her in the yap and kicked your father in the nuts.

That aside, your parents are responsible for the equipment violation and also the registration since it's their vehicle. You're just responsible for the curfew violation. You should laugh at mom when she's writing the check to pay her fines.

9pm? Is that the NY state law? In PA I thought not being able to drive past midnight when I was under 18 was lame.

thats a great law. I dont want a car load of punks out all night. Prove you are responsible and you will get to drive later. By doing what you did you are not proving that. The cop was totally in the right. They will and do look for any reason to pull you over that late at night. Most cars on the road are piloted by drunk drivers at that time of night

ok, so what about normal people finishing work or something, or coming home from a mates. They have to be home for 9pm on a weekend night? I'm often lucky to be home 4 hours later than that. Yeah im abit older, but seriously there can be multiple genuine reasons why someone could be out that late. What about the kids on street corners, drinking cider = why not go after them? Its completely rediculous, that that sort of restriction is available. So anytime after 9 you have to cycle or walk to? rolleyes:

Im sure they didnt pull this "law" out of thier asses. There must have been a problem at some time, yes it sucks that a few can ruin it for many. I think the isolated event of work is an exception to the rule. Id be willing to bet underage drinking has alot to do with it. Not to mention the stats of young drivers and the accident rate late at night

In VA, the driver is responsible if the car has equipment violations, it doesn't matter who's car it is, it only matters who is driving it, that person gets the ticket/fine

Three years ago when I got my license, we couldn't be out after 11PM with the junior license. Once we turned 18, you can be out till whenever. (I'm a PA resident)

That sucks man...If we had that rule too id be even more pissed off at our ontario graduating licensing bullshit hwich makes us get 3 licenses in the end to be a full fleged driver (though the last license i think is only giving you the right to drink like 2 beer and be able to drive where the second one is no tolerance for it.

In WV you can't drive past 11PM with your restricted(16 year old) license but when you can get your unrestricted license at 17 which means you can drive whenever you want.
