youre a deputy, arent you? tell me, do you normally get angry if someone has a differant opinion than you? how angry did you get? did you slam your keyboard and start pacing behind your chair and start cursing at the monitor "fuckk you madmatt!11" do you think my opinion is so farfetched and ridiculous that you could make a 40 page post? i live in southern california, do you know how many types of cops ive ran into? they have all had varying levels of personalities, but they all had one thing in common. they all talked to me in a condescending manner. they pull you over and make you wait 20 minutes before they let you off w/o a violation for no reason other than the fact that they can. my exp with the police is probably differant than yours.

Having a uncle thats been a police man for the past 17 years including swat team I have huge respect for all law enforcement.

These people while you want to think just sit around eat donuts drink coffee and harass minorities actually have a very dangerous and stressful job. They put their life on the line everyday sometimes working 17 + hours for probably chumpchange if not the same amount you get for pushing papers, filing TPS reports, and living in fear of the deadly paper cut.

Maybe if you didnt have this huge stigmata of how the "man" is trying to hustle you, they wouldnt act the way they do. I use plenty of yes sirs/maam, no sirs/maam and thank yous and have had nothing but respect returned. Yea is sucks when they bust you speeding or something else but shit happens. I know that being pulled over in certain sections has made me more aware to my speed and all and I slow down.

If you want respect, you need to give it and drop your NWA fuck da police attitude.

I'm not a deputy. I'm a junior officer and a teenager.

I know upwards of 30+ officers on a personal level, I also live in Southern California (Thousand Oaks/Westlake, I'm sure you've heard of it) and have spent over 70 hours with police forces over the last two weeks have just spent 12 today at a junior officer competition in burbank.

Givin my age, I'd say I handled myself quite exceptionally when you're opinion differed from mine radically. I could have written that "40 page post" screaming and yelling at you with a copious amount of cuss words, but I chose not to because nothing good would have come out of it and I would rather have presented myself in a presentable manner givin that I expected to have to identify myself as an affiliation of the police force.

Yes, It's much different. You talk to cops when they're forced to act upon something you did, and they don't want to give the impression that cops can be walked over. They don't enjoy it, I've gone on ride alongs when they've seen a 40 year old mom in a car with 6 kids in the back seat yelling while she's going 20 mph over the speed limit and the officer will remark something along the lines of, "She's having a rought time it looks like, I'll give her a break".

I've also been in the car with an officer as he see's a broken car on the side of the road, he dosen't drive by laughing, he pulls over and helps the person out. He asks whats wrong, get's the appropriate help and does as much as he can to get the person back on the road driving.

Whenever the officer I'm with does pull over a car, it's usually because it's a teenager going 80 in a 55 on a cell phone laughing, and usually they pull over the teenagers first because they're fairly new drivers compared to some of the adults and it's best to get them driving as safely as possible during this point and time.

The movie Super Troopers is a comedian groups rendition of a bored group of vermont highway patrol, if that's at all what you think police are like you're a weak minded person.

From my experience, if you're nice to cops they're nice back.
