Ahh, i live in Easton, PA. Know where that is? It's about 30 mins(i think) from reading. anyway, yeah, i went to Ghettysburg with my history class as a Freshman in highschool. I saw this stupid-ass kid that pissed me off! He started to spit like an idiot on the battle grounds. The ranger saw him and they banned him from the grounds! biggrin:

I just saw it yesterday, and I must say it is one of the best films I have seen in a long time...dont go expecting some grand battle/war action movie this movie is about the people, yes the battles are great and done well but its how the people are portrayed that puts this movie in my 'great' list especially Stephen Langs performance of Gen. Thomas J. Jackson in which he was superb...Robert Duvall made a great Lee, and Jeff Daniels did well again as Col. Chamberlain. Overall a very, very enjoyable film I'd say a 9/10...anyone interested in the U.S. Civil War, or having seen Gettysburg should enjoy this film. I have heard that the dvd will contain a...shitload of material. I'm really looking forward to the "Last Full Measure"

i just saw it and i'd have to say it was amazing. The southern view was a focus in this movie. If you saw Gettysburg and know about Colonel Chamberlain, then you can compare this movie to that way with Stonewall Jackson. He is "followed" throughout his services in the CSA. I give it a 9/10 also. I also loved the music with it.......i think every war movie/game has the best music. I would recomend everyone to go see this. It was great.

i just saw it. I will say it was a good movie-but not as good as gettysburg. This movie focusus on the people of the war (when it was meant to focus on the soldier) It puts too much focus on Jackson. In gettysburg, the camera follows chamberlain. the difference is they were conversations with his brother, killrain ect. In gods and gen... Jackson has a number of nonlogues, and the conversations are dominated by Jackson. Even though he was religious, i dont think they should have included all the bible stuff-i learned more about how the bible compares with battle reports than anything. Also, the soudtrack is awefull. Unfortunately this affects the fighting-in good fight scenes-the music ruins the suspense. I will however mention that the fighting was very good. Also in the beginning the explosions were from the ground-towards the end they were mainky computer generated, but the bullets were hitting the trees and ground, sending up dust. This change almost makes me wonder whether they changed demolition companies during th production.

Unfortunately this movie was a bit of a let down. it was made up of primarily monologues, rather than heart to heart conversations. Im not the type who just watches movies for the fighting (as you may assume), but this movie would have been an excellent miniseries. It reminded more of north and south than gettysburg or glory.

the movie:

monooque-bible verse--monologue bible-bible-short fight-monolougue-monologue-bible-bible-monologue-conversaiong-fight (which was excellent)-bible-intermission-conversation-monologue-bible-bible-letter-christmas carrol- monologue-monologue-monologue-bible-conversation about bible-monologue-small fight ruined by music-monoloque-bible stuff-jackson dies-monologue- the end

well ok...for example when in the wilderness-the confed's attacked the union camp. Before then, the camera showed the men in the treeline-with music making you feel like they were making a valiant charge (like picket's)-when the attack broke out a chorus errupted (one that should have been reserved for a more intense fight seen.-the confeds charged with little causaulties-end.
you must admitt the gettysburg score was better.
--being a musician and understanding the complexity is great-but how many vvewers are musicians? the music did not fit the scenes well-

and why did they have that guy singing the bonne blue flag in between the fight scens-talk about choppy hake:
